Two panels. Top: Fern and Wren walk away from the viewer down a lantern-lit path at night, Wren pushing a wooden cart filled with leaves. A glowing gold ribbon floats above the cart. Bottom: A close-up profile of Fern looking toward the cart, which is now parked inside a rustic wooden open-front shelter lit by lanterns. Visible text, in reading order: Wren: The old open shelter is still sound. Fern: Out of the rain. Open to the air.

この話について
A leaf rising at Room Eight leads Fern and Wren to a tray that refuses to be cleared away. Hidden silk cocoons reveal that the dead night watchman was keeping a promise to his winter guests. With Ida's memory to guide them, they move the undisturbed tray to a cool, sheltered corner rather than a shredder or a heated glasshouse. The watchman lets go when care means leaving something alone. Back in the corridor, rippling water carries a bell from Room Nine.
