文字記錄
Two panels set in a long, dimly lit greenhouse at night. In the top panel, Fern stands by a ledge holding a broken clay pot shard while Wren watches from a doorway. In the bottom panel, Fern stands before a closed green door holding a large ring of keys as a luminous golden thread and a single leaf float near the doorknob. Visible text, in reading order: Wren: Nothing left in there? Fern: Room to grow something else. Fern: Room Eight. Fern: That is not how autumn works.

關於本章
Wet soil leads Fern and Wren to Room Seven, where a dead gatekeeper's rescued hazel has outgrown its pot. Ida recalls the promised roadside hedge. Rather than postpone the promise with a bigger container, Fern frees the circling roots and plants the shrub beyond the garden gate. The keeper lets go, leaving the living to tend what grows. Back underground, a golden leaf rises against gravity at Room Eight.
