A two-panel comic set in a dark stone cellar. A woman uses a small brush to pollinate white apple blossoms on a small tree in a wooden barrel. A man stands in the background holding a lantern. A luminous, swirling golden ribbon of light emerges from the barrel in the second panel. Visible text, in reading order: Wren: Will it work? Fern: Perhaps. Not every flower sets. Fern: I can promise care. Not an apple.

Sobre este capítulo
White petals lead Fern and Wren into Room Six, where an apple tree flowers without fruit for a dead gardener's promise to Ida. Fern finds a compatible neighbour and hand-pollinates the blossoms, but refuses to promise a harvest she cannot control. Ida's willingness to wait releases the keeper. Days later a fruitlet forms, while soil creeps beneath Room Seven.
