A two-panel comic set in a rustic potting shed. In the top panel, a woman tends to a potted fern while glowing, translucent ghostly hands hover over the plant. In the bottom panel, a bearded man joins her at the workbench as they both look at the fern. Visible dialogue, in reading order: Fern: I will take it to her myself. Wren: Breakfast on the way? Fern: That is also a promise.

Acerca de este capítulo
Beyond the Mother Bed, Fern opens the door marked Five and finds a fern drowning in an unfinished kindness. With Wren and Ida, she helps a dead propagation keeper loosen her grip on a promise, repots the plant and delivers it at last. Breakfast restores the living before fresh petals appear beneath Room Six.
