A Dutch land surveyor is pulled into Orran, a world whose geography refuses to hold still. Mountains migrate. Roads are generous one day and cruel the next. Distance is not a number here — it is a mood, and the blind route-singers who read it are the closest thing this world has to navigators. Merel Vosberg measures things for a living. She cannot let it go. But the land of Orran takes its shape from what people believe about it, and an accurate map is not a description — it is an act of creation, and it cannot be undone.
